Bostonet Catchball Association, also known as Bostonet, was founded in 2015 with the goal of providing an enjoyable team sports experience for women. What started as a simple Facebook post asking ladies if they wanted to play a team sport has grown into a thriving league that continues to expand.
At Bostonet, we value friendship, camaraderie, and personal growth. We believe in the power of sports to create lasting connections and provide a space where everyone can thrive.
Whether you’re an experienced player or new to the game, we welcome you to join us in the Greater Boston area for the joy and excitement of Catchball.
How is the league structured?
Our league comprises 6 teams, from several towns within the Greater Boston area. Every team practices once a week, combining warmups, skill development and play time within the team.
League games are typically held on Sundays, and feature friendly yet competitive matches between different teams. Additionally, Bostonet offers weekly pick-up games, where players from different teams play together in a friendly setting.
These informal gatherings provide a fantastic opportunity for players from different teams and towns to come together, enjoy the sport, and further build connections within our community. It’s a fun and inclusive way to stay active and develop your skills in a relaxed setting.
New players
To support beginners in their Catchball journey, Bostonet offers training sessions (also known as Catchball School). Our school offers structured training and guidance specifically tailored for those new to the sport. These sessions are offered for the whole league, and help establish a skill baseline for all players, while advanced skills, game strategies and teamwork are often explored within a team setting.
For our existing players looking to enhance their abilities, we regularly organize clinics and workshops. These sessions are designed to sharpen specific aspects of the game, such as serving techniques, ball control, positioning, and communication. Our experienced coaches provide valuable insights and personalized guidance to help participants refine their skills and take their game to the next level.
Other activities
Alongside our regular games, pick-up sessions, Catchball School, and clinics, Bostonet hosts several annual events that are eagerly anticipated by our league members. These events include friendly tournaments, themed matches, and social gatherings. These special occasions allow our players to showcase their talents, celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship, and strengthen the bonds within our growing community.
Furthermore, we actively participate in various Catchball tournaments held throughout the year by either Mamanet or USA Catchball. These tournaments bring together teams from different leagues, providing an exciting opportunity to compete at a higher level and experience the thrill of challenging matches. It’s an excellent way to test our skills, build connections beyond our league, and immerse ourselves in the broader Catchball community.
